Frequently asked questions
Why are we called Reflecting Together?
We believe that all knowledge is shared. We each have our specializations and unique points of view, but knowledge is in everyone. From the time we were conceived, our development has been in concert with those around us, influenced by our shared past, both cultural and evolutionary. We do not learn in a vacuum; we learn with others and in relationship with them, building our collective knowledge. We all shape one another’s reality. As a result, knowledge does not belong to us alone. The path to increased wisdom and understanding is through shared reflection on our common experience. Reflecting Together is a way to share Information, Knowledge and Experience.
What is the Butterfly Approach?
The butterfly needs four wings to fly. Just like the butterfly, we human beings need four levels – biology, mind, environment, and spirituality – to achieve a state of well-being. The Butterfly Approach is a method of achieving well-being through awareness of all four of those areas. This approach does not put emphasis on one single way to achieve well-being. Instead, it considers many methods and practices in order to fit each unique person. It offers diverse ways of gaining and using information, knowledge, and experience so that we may choose the best possible path in life. Continuing the analogy with the butterfly, we change in life, like a butterfly going through a metamorphosis, from birth to death. We go through the life circle in a path that is constantly changing.
